Susan Zusman, President and CEO
Dr. Susan Zusman, former Vice President of
Research and Development for Union Biometrica Inc. and Executive Director for
Novartis Pharmaceuticals, is the founder and CEO of Genetic Services Inc.
Dr. Zusman is an accomplished scientist, educator and business woman with more
than 25 years experience in the field of model organism research. After
earning her Ph.D. from Princeton University with Nobel laureate Eric Wieschaus,
Dr. Zusman was a Howard Hughes Postdoctoral Associate at the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology. Subsequently, she became Assistant, later
Associate Professor of Biology at the University of Rochester. She has
also held Adjunct Professor positions at the University of Medicine and
Dentistry of New Jersey, Bentley College in Waltham, MA and Framingham State
College in Framingham, MA. Dr. Zusman has published numerous papers,
reviews and abstracts focused on the use of the fruit fly, D. melanogaster,
as a model for human diseases. She has spoken on this subject at several
conferences and meetings around the world. Dr. Zusman has served as a
member of the Board of Directors for the Drosophila Board of the
Genetics Society of America and has been a reviewer for the National Science
Foundation grants and fellowships, as well as many prestigious genetics and
developmental biology journals.
Michael Tworoger, Director of Science
Michael Tworoger brings to Genetic Services Inc. more than 9 years experience
working with Drosophila melanogaster as a model system. An
accomplished scientist and educator, he has received degrees from the
University of Washington and Antioch University, Seattle. Previous
positions include Senior Ressearch Scientist in the lab of Dr. Hannele Ruohola-Baker
at the University of Washington in Seattle. He has also authored papers
in prestigious journals of genetics and developmental biology.
